Two heads are better than one, so a husband and wife chef duo can only be nothing but great. From lovers to business partners, Sean & Jheanelle DaCosta created a Catering Business from their love for food.
Although both are born and raised Jamaicans, they tried to evolve their cooking skills from the typical Caribbean staples, to incorporate all other cultures and cuisines based off their culinary exposure. Not only do they have a love for food, but they also decided to dabble in the art of mixology.
As the saying goes, it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, so why not start with a Jin & Ting. Jheanelle’s alias has been Jin since her days of high school and seeing that Gin is her favorite alcohol of choice, we decided to pay homage to her by naming a signature drink from our Pop Up Shop at the Tillary Hotel Downtown Brooklyn- “Concrete Jungle NYC.” With her favorite color being purple, it was only right to use Empress Gin 1908. It is infused with butterfly pea blossom that gives it a distinctive,vibrant indigo hue. Perfect for those Spring/Summer cocktail!
Jin & Ting
The star of the show is Empress 1908 Gin, it provides the beautiful color and earthy, floral flavor, which is perfectly accented by the tangy, sparkly Jamaican grapefruit soda.
Ingredients
2 ounces Empress Gin 1908
1/2cup Ting grapefruit soda
Splash of lime juice
Lime or grapefruit slice for garnish
Let's get started!
Using a Copa or Rocks glass, fill with ice.
Add Ting (grapefruit) soda , a splash of freshly squeezed lime juice , stir and top with Empress Gin 1908.
Garnish with a grapefruit or lime slice and mint.
You can substitute Ting’s Grapefruit Soda with Fevertree’s Pink Grapefruit Soda for that pink and purple effect!
It's perfect for any party or get together. Easily prepared, beautiful and delicious - your guests will be very impressed.
